Sun Island Stands By You – Let’s Fight Against Coronavirus Together – The Finished Artwork

The activity of “Sun Island Stands By You – Let’s Fight Against Coronavirus Together” Facebook Live was held smoothly on last Saturday (21 March). Thank you all again for joining us. We had collected over 180 greeting cards designed by our parents and pupils from 9 branches and merged all cards into a big heart artwork on Monday (30 March). The finished artwork was sent to the Hospital Authority via email yesterday (31 March) to seek help from them to convert our message to frontline medical staff. This creation contains our love and respect to every Hong Kong Medical Team and our heartfelt thanks for the great services they delivered during this difficult time.

Special School Fee Adjustment for Pre-nursery Class Students

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Social Welfare Department (SWD) announced on 28th February, 2020, that all eligible Child Care Centres may apply a special grant to tide over the financial difficulties due to suspension of service, and ease the financial burden of parents during the epidemic period. After reviewing the relevant scheme, the school decided not to keep any balance and make use of the entire grant to subsidize the school fees for parents. In addition, the school will further reduce the school fees (after deducting the subsidies) by 20% and continue to waive the meal fee for the pupils of Whole-Day Session. Please kindly read the notice released on the “Sun Island’s Parents Mobile App” regarding the details of special school fee adjustments.

The school fee adjustments will be made from February to May, 2020, while the meal fee for the pupils of Whole-Day Session will be waived until classes are resumed. The reduced amount of paid school fees for February and March, 2020, will be deducted from the school fee during the month of class resumption.

We are also very concerned about our pupils’ learning and development progress. As mentioned on previous notice, the school introduced a daily learning schedule for all pupils, and continue to distribute various learning resources to parents. At the same time, the live stream learning sessions have been launched for children to carry out learning activities and interact with the teachers at home. We hope all of the above measures may help parents in different ways to confront the challenges during the epidemic period.

Yours faithfully,
School Administration Department

Distribution of Epidemic Prevention Materials

Dear Parents/Guardians,

There is a surge in demand for protective gear amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Hong Kong. Many parents shared with us their difficulties and worries about obtaining the materials. In view of this, Sun Island put lots of efforts and successfully acquired 25,000 children face masks and 2,500 pairs of children safety glasses for our pupils. We sincerely hope that could relieve the urgent needs of Sun Island’s parents and keep our pupils away from the threat of the coronavirus. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Sun Island’s parents to fight against the epidemic!

Subject to the limited supply, we shall distribute 10 children face masks and 1 pair of children safety glasses to each pupil (Including current pupils, freshers, pupils will drop out in March 2020) for free. Please kindly read the notice released on the “Sun Island’s Parents Mobile App” regarding the details of distribution at your branch.

In addition to the procurement of face masks and safety glasses for our pupils, we are also working hard to acquire the cleaning & disinfecting supplies to ensure our stockpiles are adequate and maintain cleanliness in our school campuses, so as to provide a safe and hygienic learning environment to all of our pupils and get prepared for class resumption.

Parents please continue to stay tuned to our news via the “Sun Island’s Parents Mobile App”, meanwhile, parents may also browse our school website (www.sunisland.edu.hk) and our official Facebook fan page to receive updated information on arrangements during class suspension period.

Yours faithfully,
School Administration Department
